My opinion is that it is better to do a small test first with the company to make sure that they can obtain true metrics and then develop a pay-for-performance schedule that is a win-win.

Also, many companies will not spend time on you rprogram if they also have clients that are paying them per hour for other work. Your work would end up being filler for them. Please keep that in mind.

I have seen many payout schedules. It all depends on the goals of the program.

Usually, payment is made month for the amount of sales or leads that were generated. Sales Per Hour or Leads Per Hour are usually measured.
