On screen messaging, readerboards

We are considering installing software that will allow us to send messages to our associates' screens - either to individuals or groups. Not screen pop software, necessarily - we want the message to remain on the screen until we remove it or overwrite it. I've seen in the past where a corner of the associate's screen is a "message center", to which we can post information, send messages, etc... I don't need it to integrate with our ACD, I just need a simple messaging solution.

From anybody that uses this type of software, I'm interested in:
1. What is the product and company?
2. Any idea of the cost?
3. How beneficial is it to you?

Any guidance or information would be GREATLY appreciated!

Chris

If you are using a Windows XP-based system, Microsoft Instant Messenger works well. Comes with the OS (no extra cost) and is easy to use, especially if you are on the phone. It is also not very intrusive. Worth looking into. You will need to consider security as well. This will be up to your system administrators.
