Shifts roster and off days
I am in the process of putting up a shift roster for the call center agents, 08:00 - 1400hrs and 1400hrs - 20:00hrs, but I really do not know how to factor in off days (at least one day), backups for absentees, vacation etc.
Peak days are thursdays through saturdays, and am looking at 8 call center agents. Working days are Mondays through Sundays. I will appreciate your thoughts on the issues to help me get started. Many thanks in anticipation. |

I feel you have already figured out how to go about it. however for an alternative option:
I understand you have 12 hrs operation Monday through sunday. I would suggest you break it into 3 shift. Monday and Tuesday you may schedule 4 agents in the first shift and 1 agent in the second shift which will start 1 hr after the first shift commence and then the third shift with 3 agents starting 4 hrs after the first shift commence. you can follow the same schedule for Tuesday as well then wednesday onwards each day you can give off to one agents and on sunday you give off to 4 agents with only 2 shift. (I assume the shift duration is 9 hrs for an agent).

Shift roster and off days
Hello Meghanath,
Many thanks indeed. Yes, you are right I finally figured it out, and the unique thing is that the underlying principles in your solution were adequately utilised. Once again, many thanks and I look forward to hearing from you in the future when I shout another SOS. Cheers. Jimi. |
