How many vacation& sick days did you take last year- Quick reponse needed

Hi, I am newie. I work for JP Morgan Chase Credit Cards.

I am testing a hypothesis " Increase vacation days decrease sick days" for my MBA Stats project. I need as much data from managers and agents of all levels. If you can help, that would be greatly appreciated.

If you also have any thoughts about this hypothesis based on what you have experienced from your call centre, I would love to hear from you

Thanks,

See you on-line

SUSAN

Vacation

I work at a U.S. based call center....6.5 yrs senority and am paid hourly (thankfully!) and work as a Trainer. My firm offers 12 PTO days per year to use as you please; we also get 7 statutory holidays. Our center is open 24/7/365. Currently there is NO increase in PTO days for longevity (grrr!). The attitude here is, if they give 'em, take 'em! All PTO days carry over yr after yr and are payable upon separation or upon request. My firm will grant unpaid time off if the employee has no PTO banked.

hi

PTO = Paid Time Off, which can be used (at least @ my firm) as sick days or vacation days.

Holiday (vacation) v Sick time

UK based Utilities contact centre.
We must be v generous in UK. Our staff get 33 days holiday (including statutory days) per year from day 1. We also pay 6 months full sick pay plus 6 months half pay.
In my experience there is very little correlation between the amount of paid holiday and sickness. Some people seem to think they are entitled to take a certain amount of sick leave in addition to whatever their holiday allowance is and they'll take it regardless! The amount of sick time is more directly related to work environment, "feel-good factors" etc.

Cheers
Paul
