Outsourcing

I am interested in pursuing the use of an outsourcer to supplement our inbound call center staff during predictable peak periods and off hours. I'd be interested in hearing about experiences, good and bad. Also, if you are aware of any outsourcers that have experience in P&C insurance, including any that use licensed personnel, then I'd appreciate it if you would provide the company name and contact.

PS: Here are a few paragraphs from an article that appeared recently in Call Center Magazine:
--------------------------------------------------------------
The Philippines, with approximately 82.9 million people, is emerging as an aggressive competitor to India. According to published reports, officials say locating a call center there is 30% to 50% less expensive than in the US.

Proponents say one of the Philippines' advantages over India is the Filipino accent, which is more neutral and pleasant on American ears than Indian-spoken English. Another is the country's strong cultural and historic ties to the US.

The Philippines government is promoting several IT parks for call centers. They are located mostly on the outskirts of Manila, the capital and largest city. The parks boast modern buildings, multiple redundant telecom/data feeds and onsite power. One of these parks is on the site of the former Clark Air Force Base.

...US companies outsourcing to Philippines-located call centers include American Express, AOL and Microsoft.

Outsourcing to India

Hello,

We are a consulting firm in New Delhi,India.

We are consulting with a number of companies in
India and would be pleased to work with you on
your project. Please let us have the details for
us to move forward. These companies are already
working for a number of companies in the US/ UK/Australia on different campaigns/projects
and would be able to take this up very quickly.

India is rapidly becoming the Call Center Capital
of the World. GE Capital, Amex, Citicorp, 3Com,
New York Life, Convergys, Phoenix Life, Saffron Call have a growing presence and long term commitments in India.

Yahoo, Amazon, Conseco, Compaq, Dell, AOL, Intuit, Microsoft, Sprint, AT&T are some of
the organizations that have moved call center business to India.

As per certain estimates, currently, 37% of the call center outsourcing business worldwide is going to India. It is anticipated by these sources that as much as 70% will be achieved by 2003.

We are also looking for a Call Center in the US/ Canada/ UK to make a strategic investment in so as to become its backend Center in India. We are also open any other model of doing business including outsourcing of campaigns to our clients.

We also have a division which is into Executive
Search and placement and you could check
out its website at www.hitechtrackers.com
We are currently working with GE, exlService,
Spectramind, Motorola, Paras Calltech, TCS,
Hughes Software, Wipro amongst others.

On the website under the head 'Team' you will
find a writeup on some of us.
