Interviewing for Director position

I am going on a second interview Friday for a company that is asking me to run 3 call centers in India. This position would require extensive travel to India spending 4-5 months at a time. So my question is not so much about the position itself, but more on India, some of the issues I might experience, and overall work culture. Any help from anyone who has worked there or traveled there would be appreciated. Please private message me if anyone has some information that may be useful.

Thank you

Working in India

Hi DaWoodley,

Since you didn't include your e mail address, I'll post my reply here. Man, are you in for a shock :)! Our company has call centers in Philippines and India and it took me a little while to acclimate myself to India. Don't get me wrong - the people are wonderful and Bangalore has a lot of history and wonderful and well preserved architectures, but coming in from Southern California, I was very taken aback by the working condition for me. I am talking about the weather, the traffic and the food. I have not worked in Mumbai or Delhi so I can't speak for those cities. If you are flexible person and easily adapt to different conditions, you should be fine. India has working apartments for rent so I would suggest you look into that instead of regular hotels (they are similar to Amerisuites and Extendedstay with kitchenettes). The working apartments are in good conditions and the rates are much cheaper than the hotels in India.

Let me just say that I cherish my visits back to the US everytime I go back.

Good luck bud
