1 year contract with Wipro spectramind

Hi all.
I am new to this forum but I came to know about this forum while browsing.
I have a question, I had joined Wipros Spectramind at New Delhi in the year 2003, and during that time since I was new to the call centre industry , I was asked to sign a 1 year bond with the company.
After 3 months I reallised that I cannot continue with that company as , I was getting harrased by my team leader. So I left the company.
Now after 3 years they have sent a summon at my home regarding the bond , which says that I have to pay the money which is around 80000 RS.
I am really very depressed..what should I do.

Hi,

I don't think many of us here, will be 100% up to speed with the Indian Employement laws (at least I am not), but I will try to answer as good and honest as I can.

What is important, is to realize that you might have a problem. If you left the organisation, without giving notice, and while being outside a probationary time, the organisation you worked for, will have had a loss. This might sound hard, but they will have lost Service Level, Compliance targets etc. because you were no longer available to them.
This might be a reason for them to be so tough on you, as it will assure current members of staff, not to "harm" them in a similar way.

It is also important, to look back at the situation with your former team leader. What did you do to resolve the "harassement" issue? Did you report it to HR? A manager?
Without "proof" ... the company has a strong point if it comes to a lawsuit.

My advice to you is:
1. Find out, if more people have received similar treatment from this company, and make sure you get in touch with them.
2. Get your facts straight, try to get as much written examples of the harassement as possible.
3. Try to look at the whole situation without emotion. It might be the fastest and cheapest solution to negotiate a deal with your former employer.

Anyway... I wish you good luck, and may wisdom guide your actions.

1 year contract with Wipro

Thanks for the suggestion, although I have already enquired a lot of peaople about the problem , which at present I am dealing with.

Infact this is not the first time that the company has sent me any summon, infact it's not even a summon from the court , it's a lawer who has sent the letter, and the funniest part is that when , I was sent a letter first which was 2 years back, I did respond to it, and I had sent a letter in the reply of it, but the summons says that we have failed to respond any of their acknowledgement.
Which is not true, I have asked my people back home to hire a lawer and then we will go from there, but a lot of people have done this .My case is different as I had the case of ---ual harrasment. I did notify the HR regarding this in the beginig .

But I just fail to understand that what were they doing till 3 years , and when we had send them a letter why did they fail to respond to it, and how come they are saying that we never responded to it.
Any suggestions....

HI there,

Am in similar situation as rbyx_x. Signed a contract with the firm, and then left mid-way without notice.

Another problem is that the address that the firm has with them, is no longer occupied. So I really am not sure if I have received the summon or not. But one of my ex-colleague just informed me that he received one today.

What is the best course of action that I should take.

Regards,

I am facing a similar situation as rbyx_x. I had a bond with the firm and left before the time period.

Many others did the same with me. And now, one of them has received the summon.

My issue is that the address that the firm has is no longer occupied and I have no clue if I have received the letter from the lawyer or not.

We are really shocked by this situation. Its after 3 years that something like this has come up.

Wat should we do?
