What do you call your trainees?

We have new agents in training for several months before they "graduate". We have designated "trainers", which have a graded job that can't change titles. But when writing materials, it gets confusing to refer to both types of employees by such similar titles (trainERs and trainEEs).

I'm trying to find a new term (unofficial only) to refer to trainees by. "Recruits" sounds too military, "interns" has a difficult political connection and most others have a distinct (and often inappropriate) connotation. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Val

I like to call them "future managers"

They seem to like that.

We still use the Trainer/Trainee thing, but when it comes down to documentation, we call the trainees the "New Hires."

Hope this helped,
GW

Ours are new hires until they hit the floor and are assigned to a POD. I love the idea of "future managers," though!

:) why sugar-coat it? I mean, they know they're trainees, right? We just call trainees trainees - Simple! I was never offended when I was one!
