Pre-recorded messages from telemarketers

I am consistently contacted by telemarketers both live and pre-recorded. Is anyone aware of a way to stop these nuisance calls that are both bothersome as well as a waste of operator time?

Help!

Pre-recorded messages from telemarketers

States such as NC, GA, KY, TN and AZ have strictly legislation in place, which does not allow telemarketers to contact residents of their states using an interactive voice response type system (no live agent contact). In the event a telemarketer does violate these regulations, there are several avenues of recourse. You may try contacting the company directly and ask to be removed from their call list. You may also want to find out if your state has a statewide do not contact list and be added to it. Another popular option is to contact your district attorney's office and let them formally file a complaint on your behalf.

GA has a state attourney general's no call list. You could also register with the DMA as part of their do not call list. Most companies use their list as a way to reduce damage caused by unwanted solicitation. The site is http://www.the-dma.org
