Training in the US and India

Hello,

I are currently working for an American company that is considering business in India. I have observed training styles in India and notice they are very different from the US, I was wondering does anyone have experience/insight into cultural differences in terms training style/delivery/content. Do American styles work in the Indian culture? (i.e. accelerated learning and/or adult learning). Any success/failure cross-culture training stories and why they did/did not work.

Thank you very much for your help!
Ruth & Ajay

Training in the US and India

Dear Ruth and Ajay

Training styles in India differ from those in the US because of the difference in the culture of thetwo nations. It is difficult to change the style of learning which has seeped in so deep in the Indian psyche, especially when you are training them in a different culture, attitude and language. (Yes language, because American english is vastly different from Indian or British english). The success of the training depends on the trainer and the approach that is used.

I would like to see any American styled training if you have any, this does not mean the material but I mean the delivery method.

Thanks

Hello Ruth & Jay,

The Style does differ. I am american and have worked with a company and was a part of setting up and trainging staff in Pune India. I spent 8 months in India working with this team. I would be happy to share my experiences with you in more details if you would like to make contact with me.
