Reporting Time Zones
We are in the process of developing a data warehouse for our organization, and are trying to determine how time zones should be handled. We currently have contact centers in Eastern, Central & Mountain time zones, and servers in all of these, plus Pacific. Our corporate HQ is in Central, and our DW team seems to think that all times should be converted to Central time for reporting through the warehouse, even though from an Operations side, we would like to be able to see the centers performance along with a rolled up performance.
Has anyone had experience in this? What would you recommend? What are the pros/cons of each? Thanks in advance! Shawn Livengood |

Shawn-
In a consulting project recently we faced the same question. The answer we arrived at was to convert everything to the time zone where the data warehouse resided and then built reporting filters at the remote locations to convert to their local time. I'm sure there are other answers but this process worked for us. Good Luck!
