"Click here to chat with an analyst now"

Hi, I am working on a proposal for my Leadership Team to implement the "click here to chat with an analyst" on our intranet site. Our CallCenter is a 200 seat CallCenter that services internal customers only, basically our employees, total of 40,000 users. Our scope includes, HR, Business, and Technology support. We currently use the IVR/Symposium Technology for our call routing. I'd like to understand the technology behind this type of service, as well as, the actual term that is used when you talk about implementing "click here to chat with an analyst". Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
